THE ISSUE
Seasonal floods in Semarang
Every year during the summertime, the city of Semarang, as well as other nearby cities, experience extreme rainfall. Due to these extreme weather conditions, the inhabitants have been struck with annual floods. The waterlevel on the streets of Semarang can rise anywhere from 10 to 150 cm. These floods affect well over a million people every year in Semarang alone. We have decided to take a more specific look at the Banger Polder, to get a fundamental understanding of the problem.
